Summer always involves wet swimsuits, muddy shoes and dirty paw prints from furry family members. To keep up, you need a great cleaner; but is chlorine bleach the right product for you? Bleach can be corrosive to your plumbing system and its fumes are harmful to your family. In keeping with our green plumbing policies, our Austin plumbers wanted to share this great Hydrogen Peroxide-based solution from Nourishing Joy. It provides a safe, yet effective option that isn’t as harmful to your family and home.
How to Make Homemade Bleach
2 cups hydrogen peroxide (3% solution)
2 tablespoons lemon juice or ½ teaspoon citric acid
2 cups water
10 drops lemon essential oil
1 quart bottle for storage
If stored in a dark or covered bottle, the solution should last 2 to 3 months. If stored in a light or clear bottle, it will only last about 1 month.
Our Austin plumbers strive to keep your home as green as possible and, with the solution above, you can get the best cleaning power from the least harmful product. Do you have any other summer, green plumbing tips? Tell us on our @AAAAUGER Twitter!
