We have plenty of old, used pipes and assorted plumbing components in the shop, much like other Fort Worth plumbing companies, and we wanted to find a use for them. We’ve come up with a few creative ideas to turn unused pipes into something great for your home. If you have leftover plumbing parts around the house, this blog is for you!
To turn those old parts into something useful, here are a few suggestions:
• Copper pipe toilet paper roll holders
• Spare parts wind chimes
• Watering wand out of old shower heads
• Old pipes used as stakes for tomatoes, peppers and other garden plants to vine up
• A handrail, shelves or a curtain rod from old pipes
Here are the steps for making a towel rack out of an old galvanized steel pipe:
Find a pipe that is your ideal length. You want to consider how many towels are going to fit and if you want small hand towels or larger bath towels. Also, consider the space you’re going to mount the rack. Make sure you have enough space for the rack before you start.
Screw on 45 degree pipe fittings to both ends of your pipe from step one. If you don’t have any, they are inexpensive and easy to find at any hardware store. Be sure you bring your pipe from step one with you so you get the correct size.
Screw another small pipe, maybe 2″ – 3″ long, at the other end of the 45 degree pipe fittings. Again, these are easy to find at any hardware store, just make sure you have the right size.
At the end of the smaller pipes screw on a mounting plate which can also be found at a hardware store if you don’t have one. After that, all you have left is to mount the rack on the wall.
Plumbing pipes are made from copper, galvanized steal, or other metals, and they can be used to make lovely additions to your home. Plumbing pipes are easy to work with. Just find pieces that fit together and get creative.
